The care your pet requires to stay happy, healthy, and active depends on his or her age. As your pets grow up and grow old, our veterinarians in Lincoln, NE adjust the examinations techniques and treatments your pets receive during their annual (adults) or bi-annual (seniors) check ups.
During a regular wellness exam, our veterinarian will evaluate your pet's physical health with a visual examination of your pet's eyes, ears, teeth and gums, coat and skin, and weight. If you have a senior pet, we will also run a general blood panel, testing for the presence of any diseases which are common with age such as diabetes, thyroid issues, or other organ conditions. We will also evaluate your geriatric pet for signs arthritis, vision or hearing loss, any cognitive function issues, hypertension, periodontal disease, and signs of tumors.
At Antelope Creek Veterinary Healthcare Center, we safeguard your pet's health with preventative care during regular wellness exams. During both senior and adult wellness exams, we ensure the ongoing prevention of contagious disease and parasites with routine pet vaccinations and parasite prevention medications. Both of these preventative measures protect your pets from pain and discomfort, heartworm, fleas, and ticks. Preventative care also keeps pets safe from diseases such as kennel cough, feline leukemia, rabies, Lyme disease, leptospirosis, and more.
In addition to a healthy diet, regular exercise, and play, to ensure your pet's health and happiness we recommend adult pets see a Lincoln veterinarian at least once per year and that senior pets visit us twice annually for a comprehensive wellness check and preventative care. If you have an adult or senior pet living under your care, contact our office at 402-488-0993 to schedule a wellness appointment today.
